Our Story
Bas Paani started with a question.
How did water become an afterthought?
We obsess over where our coffee comes from. We care about the origin of our wine. We tell stories about the food we eat. But water? For something we consume every day, we rarely ask where it comes from, what's in it, or why we've chosen it.
Somewhere along the way, water became invisible.
That fascinated us.
We're Aaryan and Archit. Friends since grade 3. Aaryan grew up in Himachal Pradesh, surrounded by mountains and natural springs. Archit grew up travelling across India, collecting stories and becoming increasingly curious about the things we often overlook.
Over the years, one question kept returning: Why are we so fascinated by water from distant mountain ranges when we have the Himalayas? The same Himalayas that have shaped India's geography, culture and imagination for thousands of years. Yet when it comes to water, we often look elsewhere for provenance, aspiration and quality.
That never made much sense to us. So we started paying attention. Not to what could be added to water. But to what was already there. Bas Paani wasn't created to reinvent water.
It was created to appreciate it.
Indian water. Indian mountains. Indian stories. And a distinctly Indian way of keeping things simple.
From the beginning, we wanted to build a brand that felt unmistakably Indian. That's why the name on the front of every can is written in Devanagari. Not as a design flourish, but as a reminder of where we come from and what we're proud of.
Because we believe taste isn't about choosing complicated things. It's about caring about simple things.
And if you've put thought into something as basic as the water you drink, chances are you already have taste.
So we kept it simple.
